RELATE Festival | Tales of an African Child by Express-so

Tales of an African Child by Express-so

Tales of an African Child by Express-so (Collins Ugo and Chinonso Onyia, also known as Spirit) fuses Afro dance and spoken word to narrate the journey of African youth navigating identity, expectation, ambition, and belonging. It explores cultural norms and parental expectations, where stability and tradition are prioritised over passion and self-expression. Through resilience, friendship, and chosen families, it celebrates finding belonging in foreign places. Developed under the mentorship of Lia Haraki within RELATE (REveaL – Art To Exchange), co-funded by the European Union through the CERV programme.

8 November, 20:00 | Dance House Lefkosia
