The workshop is based on an approach to movement research, improvisation and performance called z(ero)ing. It comprises a series of improvisational tasks which provide for movement to be explored from a number of different angles through distributing attention spatially and attuning to pre-movement impulses as supports for movement. The class invites you to feel into to how these tasks impact (or not) on your experience of movement. The notion of collective finding is also central to z(ero)ing. As part of the workshop we discuss our insights, questions and observations. Over the years, the facilitator Mary Nunan has found that words used by individual dancers to describe their experiences of the ‘thing’, which is also a ‘no-thing’, and underlies z(ero)ing, can be very illuminating and empowering for all.
