More than dancing

Dance House Lefkosia invites artists to send their proposals for the MORE THAN DANCING residency program that focuses on community. The proposals could involve, without being limited to, a series of workshops, performances, nights of poetry, film screenings, discussions in the garden, educational programs, participatory events. We are welcoming proposals for new productions as well as already existing projects adapted for this program.

The events should be created for non-artistic audience, specific age groups (e.g. toddlers, teenagers, 60+) and/or social groups (e.g. parents, refugees, people with disabilities). There is no limitation to the concept or the style. The program’s aim is the inclusion of people interested in artistic engagement but did not have any interaction with dance or the Dance House yet. Very important element of the program is to have regular events/meetings starting from the following February up until the end of 2024.

The selected proposals would be realized in collaboration with the Dance House and will receive 2000 euros for their participation in the program with the possibility of mentoring. We will select two proposals one of which to be focusing on people under 18 years old.

The audience outreach will mainly be the artists responsibility. The organization and
promotion of the events will happen in collaboration with the Dance House. Before the beginning of the events, we will have an introductory meeting focusing on the artistic and strategic planning of each project. The audience participation fee, if any, will be discussed with the artistic director of Dance House Lefkosia. Any income received from the public events will be shared between the artists and the Dance House.

The selected artists will not be able to participate at the On Bodies Festival 2024.
