Dance House Lefkosia invites artists working with the body and choreography, to send proposals for On Bodies Festival 2024.
This year, we are looking for performances that engage with the theme of HEALING – the process of treating a wound, the support in overcoming a trauma, the recovery to a pain-free mental or physical state. We invite artists to creatively respond to the call and through their artistic practice to present various aspects of healing.

With what traumatic residues are we currently coping with on a social and political level?
How do we move forward?
The performances will take place at the main stage or in the garden/ outside area of the Dancehouse.The interested artists/groups can apply with a new proposal or an existing performance in one of following categories. The selected proposals will take place once during the time of the festival.
BODIES ON STAGE
Works between 15-30 minutes tο be presented at the main stage of the Dance House.
BODIES IN THE GARDEN
Works between 5-25 minutes to be presented in the garden/ outside area of the Dance House.
Selected proposals:All projects will receive technical support for their performance taking into consideration the resources and equipment of the venue (audio-visual equipment – video projector – screen, etc). The performances must be easy to set up/set down. Additionally, they will receive:
- For NEW PRODUCTIONS:
Solo work: €1000 (one performer)
Duet: €1500 (two performers)
Group piece: €2500 (at least three performers)
The selected proposals will have 10-20 hours of rehearsals at the L-DH, spread evenly across February-May.
- For EXISTING WORK:
Solo work: €700 (one performer)
Duet: €1000 (two performers)
Group piece: €1700 (at least three performers)
The selected proposals will have 10 hours for rehearsals at the L-DH, spread evenly across February-May.
- For INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:
L-DH will cover accommodation, per diem and tickets up to 250 euros per person/traveling artist, as well as a small fee. Maximum traveling artists: 3
Atelier:On the 16 and 17 of May in collaboration with Dance Gate Lefkosia Cyprus (DG) and EDN- European Dance House Network, we will organise the Atelier Healing: Becoming Well Again focusing on various theoretical and performative discourses on the concept of healing and taking time to process trauma.
Selection:The selection committee will consist of Petros Konnaris (artistic director of L-DH, performance artist), Arianna Economou (president of Echo Arts, choreographer/performer, director of DG), Andromachi Dimitriadou Lindahl (choreographer, artistic director of Asomates Dynameis), Pantelis Georgiou (secretary of L-DH and DG), and Elena Agathokleous (artistic director of Center of Performing Arts MITOS, performance artist). The results will be sent to all the applicants by email by the end of December 2023.
The selection will be made based on (A) the clarity of the proposals and the choreographic methodology of the project, (B) the connection to the theme of healing and the relation to the venue and (C) the overall curation of the festival.
