A ballet class welcoming dancers from all artistic backgrounds and levels of classical ballet training. The class will focus on a holistic use of the body, core strength and expansive movement. The aim is to create a space for every dancer to articulate their own artistic qualities and individuality, with which to explore the classical ballet technique.
RELEASE- FLOOR WORK
During the classes we will focus on the importance of the breath, center and periphery, mainly through floor movement patterns, that will progressively lead up to more complex sequences with dynamic shifts in space. Elements of Laban movement analysis are incorporated throughout the class.
The class provides space and time for movement exploration through the use of imagery, sensations and states. The aim is to let go of judgment and experience the pleasure that movement can offer. The class concludes with a jam session as a way to find playfulness and enhance creativity.
These ballet classes will be focusing on finding the joy in movement that we may lost during all these years of constant training and teaching others and help us remember the reason why we have chosen a dance-based career starting from ballet and the reason we first fell in love with it. A dancing class with beautiful lines, choreographies and a touch of neo-classical style.
ACROSS THE FLOOR
All about coordination, flow, use of breath rather than virtuosity, strength or flexibility. Executing across and in and out of the floor combinations smoothly requires flexible joints, fluidity, relaxed body and attention to the kinesthetic feedback provided by the floor. The use of gravity in collaboration with the body in turning and spiral motions are some of the key elements of this class.
